Ask the daft question. Protect patients. Treat people properly. Know when Discord is not the place.
The posted rules.
1. No patient-identifiable details. Ever.
No names, addresses, dates of birth, job numbers, photos, locations, exact timings or combinations of facts that could identify a patient. Changing a few details is not enough. Ask about the general learning point, not the job. We may remove content or members immediately to protect patients.
2. This is peer discussion, not live clinical advice.
Do not ask the server to diagnose someone or tell you how to manage a live or recent patient. Nothing here overrides JRCALC, local policy, your clinical-support route or your educator. Escalate through your service when care decisions are involved.
3. No daft question exists here.
Asking basic questions is the point. Answer constructively or leave it for someone else. Do not shame people for their grade, route into the profession or level of experience.
4. Vent about situations, not identifiable people.
Do not name a Trust, university, placement, mentor, colleague or patient in a complaint. Do not use Standby Point to organise pile-ons or take workplace disputes public.
5. Keep members safe.
No harassment, discrimination, sexual content, unwanted private messages or punching down at patients. Under-18s may be present. Report concerning behaviour privately using the route in support; do not investigate it yourself.
6. Promotion needs permission or Creator access.
No unsolicited selling, recruiting, surveys, affiliate links or repeated self-promotion. Approved Creators may use Creator Corner for relevant free or paid work when commercial relationships are clear. A Creator badge is posting access, not endorsement.
7. Use a handle if you want.
Real names, employers, universities and registration details are not required. Journey and clinical-role labels are trusted self-declarations unless a badge explicitly says staff-reviewed.
8. Standby Point is not a crisis service.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E. Samaritans are available on 116 123. Ambulance staff can also use TASC; students can use university wellbeing support, their GP or NHS 111. Do not rely on Discord for urgent help.
Report privately.
The read-only support area in Discord explains the current private reporting route. Use it for concerns about harassment, safeguarding, dangerous advice, confidentiality or another member. Do not investigate the concern yourself or turn it into a public call-out.
A report involving a moderator is escalated to the owner. The community will not promise confidentiality where someone may be at immediate risk.
How the rules are enforced.
Moderators may remove content, restrict access or remove members where safety, confidentiality or platform integrity requires it. Patient-identifiable content, predatory behaviour, credible threats and deliberate hate or harassment do not require a warning first.
Moderation decisions are recorded privately. Appeals go to the owner, not into public channels.
Keep the room useful.
