Standby Point is the rebranded SnapMedic Discord community. It is the same server, with its existing people, history, bookmarks and invite. The wider ambulance community is now the main room; SnapMedic has a smaller optional area of its own.
The live audit found 390 human members on 1 September 2026. Most conversation was already concentrated in General and Question of the Week, so the rebrand keeps what worked and avoids replacing it with a wall of quiet channels.

Private when it helps.
Role choices can open private rooms for student crew, NQPs in preceptorship and experienced paramedics. They are peer spaces, not verified professional directories. Shared questions and useful answers still belong in Ask the Crew whenever possible.
Members choose training and current-role labels through Discord Onboarding. Those labels are self-declared unless a badge explicitly says it has been reviewed by staff.
Live, without empty rooms.
Standby Point keeps one voice room for interactive study evenings and one Stage for guest presentations and larger questions and answers. A planned event gets its own temporary thread rather than a permanent event-chat channel sitting unused.
Off Shift is there for ordinary social conversation. Neither social nor live spaces are urgent support or crisis services.
